If you have kids, you know how quickly your bathroom can go from glimmering to ghastly as those little monsters take care of their bathroom business each day. What can you do to make it easier to clean up after your kids? Here, you'll find a few ideas that can help make keeping up with their bathroom messes a little easier on you.

Select Easy to Clean Cabinets

Real wood cabinets are not going to be the best choice for a bathroom that kids use–yes, they are beautiful and last a long time, but they cannot withstand the abuse that kids put them through. Plus, they aren't that easy to clean.

When you have laminate bathroom cabinets, you'll be able to scrub and scrape the gook off without gouging the wood. Another great thing about laminate is that it doesn't absorb moisture like wood does, so all of the liquids that the kids splash all over the place will not soak into the wood and cause it to split, rot, and become discolored.

Tip: Stock up on Mr. Clean Magic Erasers! These little sponges will remove just about any substance that the kids smear onto the surface—and without using chemicals. All you'll need to do is get it wet, wring it out, and wipe the area clean. Rinse the sponge, wring it out well, and stash it back under the sink for the next mess.

Say No to Grout

Grout can cause quite a lot of grief when you're cleaning a bathroom after kids have used it. If you insist on having tile in your bathroom, consider having the traditional grout replaced with epoxy grout. The epoxy grout isn't porous and won't soak up the moisture that rests on it. You will be able to wipe the grout clean without having to use bleach or other harsh chemicals to remove the stains.

Get Organized

Give the kids the organizational tools they need to keep their stuff up off of the counters and floors. Install wall-mounted toothbrush holders, hang a suction cup toy bin in the bathtub, and give them a laundry basket or hamper for their dirty clothes. If they have the things they need to keep things organized, they may actually help to keep up with cleaning the messes that they make on a daily basis.

You don't have to continue to battle your bathroom to keep it clean. These tips will help to make the task a little less treacherous for you.
